Why we do what we do

Our Mission

At Será Cacau, we understand cocoa as a gift from the earth—it can only develop its full potential in a healthy and diverse ecosystem. That's why we invest in traditional agroforestry systems, such as the Brazilian cabruca, which protect the biodiversity of the rainforest. Studies show that these agroforestry systems preserve more than 278 native species and increase resistance to pests and climate change.

We follow a holistic approach: ecology, economy, and social issues form a cycle. From cultivation to packaging, everything remains in Brazil—fairly, sustainably, and with great appreciation for local communities. Thus, the added value returns directly to the region and promotes a truly circular economy.

Our Values

  • Cuidado com a Terra

We protect the environment through regenerative cocoa cultivation. Our cocoa grows under shade trees in the rainforest (agroforestry), which nourishes the soil and promotes biodiversity. Research shows that Cabruca cultivation preserves more than 278 native species. Thus, we actively contribute to the protection of the rainforest and the preservation of natural cycles.

  • Cuidado com as Pessoas

Fair conditions for all involved are very important to us. We work closely with a cooperative of small Brazilian farmers, ensuring fair pay and promoting local well-being. From cultivation to shipping, everything remains in Bahia, which strengthens the local economy and creates stable jobs. Furthermore, we share knowledge: the traditional know-how of cocoa cultivation is passed on and preserved.

  • Partilha Justa

We consciously give back to the community. We donate 10% of our profits to projects protecting the Atlantic Forest. We also engage in education and awareness-raising efforts to promote sustainable consumption. Responsible consumption and fair supply chains protect the environment and promote social justice.

Ceremonial graduation cocoa

What is this and what does it have to do with SerÁ cocoa?

Ceremonial Grade is not a protected term, but rather a recommendation for high-quality cocoa. The quality characteristics are:

  • 100% pure cocoa (cocoa mass): no additives such as sugar, emulsifiers or vegetable fats.
  • Single origin: Cocoa comes from a single growing region and is harvested by smallholder farmers – transparency and fair conditions are important.
  • Careful processing: traditional fermentation and light roasting (no “dutching”) preserve aroma and nutrients.
  • Sustainability and respect: organic farming and fair wages are central; harvesting is often carried out under ecological conditions.

Will Cacau meet all these requirements:

It's 100% pure and certified organic, sourced from the country of origin, processed without additives, and ideal for ritual applications. Thanks to the careful on-site production process, it combines the highest quality with the full, original flavor of cocoa.

Sustainable Packaging

Our packaging is part of our mission. Compostable and plastic-free:

We use recycled cardboard and are working to completely eliminate the use of plastics, with the goal of implementing this measure by 2026. This is because plastic practically does not decompose – it just fragments into increasingly smaller particles (microplastics).

This eco-friendly packaging protects resources and actively reduces our carbon footprint, allowing you to enjoy our cocoa without harming the planet.
